SoliBoard Backup

SoliBoard™ Backup is a lightweight, thermally efficient insulation board developed for backup insulation in high-temperature refractory lining systems. Designed for installation behind dense refractory brick, insulating brick and monolithic castable linings, it is particularly suited for petrochemical furnaces, process heaters, reformers, reactors and other demanding thermal process equipment.

Installed as a secondary insulation layer, SoliBoard™ Backup reduces heat loss, lowers external shell temperatures and improves overall thermal efficiency. The low-density board contributes to lighter lining designs while helping to reduce energy consumption and operating costs throughout the service life of the installation.

Manufactured from extra-long SoliWool™ ULS® fibres, SoliBoard™ Backup combines low density with excellent mechanical strength, thermal performance and dimensional stability. SoliWool™ ULS® incorporates Generation III Ultra Low Shot technology and is exempt from classification and labelling requirements in Europe under Note Q of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 supported by Fraunhofer testing. Good machinability and low dust generation further simplify installation around anchors, studs and other mechanical fixing systems.

In demanding process environments, backup insulation can be exposed to elevated temperatures through joints, cracks, anchor penetrations or localized refractory damage. The SoliWool™ fibre base has a melting point of approximately 1420°C, providing an additional safety margin under such conditions. With a classification temperature of 1100°C, SoliBoard™ Backup is intended for applications without direct flame impingement up to this temperature. Produced on a continuous manufacturing line using advanced drying technology, it offers low shot content, consistent density and reliable long-term performance.
